Asda are teaming up with Zapper this Halloween to give customers a thrill, and turn their weekly shop into an event for all the family.

The collaboration will bring an augmented reality monster hunt to stores across the country towards the end of the month in the run up to Halloween.

Using Zappar’s free smartphone app, children and their parents will be able to experience augmented reality and watch the monsters come to life onscreen, using the phone’s camera so it interacts with the actual store.

By aiming the camera at special red floor stickers, the monsters Fang and Fangle can climb out of the floor, before your very eyes! The technology should also be able to transfer the faces of monsters onto people as digital masks!

Steph Hughes, the head of in-store, non-food marketing for Asda, commented: “Keeping kids entertained whether you’re doing the weekly shop or unpacking at home is always a challenge. We’ve had great feedback from our customers with previous in-store events using Zappar, so we’re excited to be able to take this even bigger for Halloween this year.”

The monster hunt will be launching in 394 stores on Saturday 25 October, so look out for it while out shopping!
