Halloween celebrations in Portsmouth are set to be burning hot this year with revellers being the given the chance to do something different – walk on red-hot coals.

On Thursday 29 October, dozens of people will gather at the popular Guildhall Walk nightlife area to walk over 12 feet of scorching hot coals, dressed in their Halloween costumes .

Experts from Firewalk UK will be on hand to help zombies, ghosts and vampires conquer their fire fears and take on the challenge.

The firewalkers have each promised to raise £75 in sponsorship cash for the Jubilee Sailing Trust and Wessex Cancer Trust .

Matt Graveling, events co-ordinator at Jubilee Sailing Trust, said: “This is a rare opportunity to do something different, dress up for Halloween and raise money for two excellent causes.”

Spaces are still available for the Halloween event, according to the charities . For more information or to register for the firewalk challenge contact Mr Graveling on (023) 8042 6868.
