Spook Guide - Phantoms
Phantoms are usually thought of as having a roughly humanoid size
and shape, yet they do not usually look solid. Phantoms are usually
almost transparent, and do not interact with physical objects.
Phantoms
can walk through walls, and they walk as though drifting slightly
above the ground. Solid objects can be passed through as though they
weren’t there. Some phantoms behave as if they are on a personal
quest, and do not react to human influences on their presence.
Like
ghosts, phantoms are thought to be souls that could not find rest
after their death, and instead linger on earth. Phantoms are thought
to have unfinished business with the living, seeking justice or revenge.
It is thought that, like ghosts, phantoms inhabit a netherworld or
spirit-realm between the living and the dead. Some phantoms are thought
to be criminals who are lingering to avoid purgatory or hell.
Some
scientists and parapsychologists think that ghosts are a form of
energy made of ‘ectoplasm.’ Throughout the world, different
cultures and religions believe in phantoms and ghosts. These beliefs
vary depending on the culture and the place where the phantom is
seen. Throughout the whole world though, places where phantoms and
ghosts are seen are described as ‘haunted.’
